Smiling;

is it really so hard?

Tired of scowling artists, album-launching
Montreal singer-songwriter comes out as a smiler
(August 21st) Be warned, side-effects of the unveiling of Amos
Joannides' (jo-anna-deez) long-awaited sophomore album I want to
see you smile may include shining eyes, exposed teeth and slight
aching in the cheek muscles. The event will be held this Friday, August
24th at Bar Privateer on Mackay Street and will consist of an
impromptu mix of songs, laughter, dancing and obviously - smiling.
Laughologist Albert Nerenberg & DJ OverFlow will be joining forces
with Joannides to ensure that it's a night to remember. Doors open at
8 P.M.

Fans of his debut album My Name is Amos will be happy
to retrieve Joannides' signature layered harmonies,
acoustic melodies and impressive vocal range on I Want
to See You Smile and will further note that Joannides has
added a touch of jazz to his sound on this new release.
He has also captured some of the beat boxing that live
audiences have come to expect. The 10-track album features, to a
large extent, upbeat lively pop songs, with a few slower sadder
ones thrown in for good measure.

After years spent in the indie scene during which he
found it to be fashionable to wear scarves and
perfect the forlorn stare, Joannides found himself
saying, "I just can't do this anymore!" I want to see
you smile is more than a lyric in a song and goes
beyond being an album title. It's essentially a
mantra; it's why Joannides does what he does. Audiences at
Montreal's iconic Theatre Rialto and Wakefield's Kaffe 1870 have
embraced Joannides' joyous performances over the course of the
summer. Your DNTO introduced the single Miss Lady to the country
on a show dedicated to smiling. Following the August 24th launch,
Joannides will be taking his pearly whites on the road as he tours
Canada throughout September. For details about scheduled shows,
check out the mobile website or the Amos Joannides app. In the
meantime, however, the August 24th launch is the place to be.
Attendance even comes with a guarantee: "if you come, and you
don't smile," laughs Joannides "then... you must be dead!"

~30~
couverture de son premier album My name is Amos.
contagieux.
I WANT TO SEE YOU SMILE
DISPONIBLE LE 24/08/12

The truth about Amos is that he genuinely wants to see you smile. It's
his raison-d'être. He has chosen the path of the singer-songwriter to
accomplish this mission and his audiences are the happier for it, but
he could have chosen another path. Over the years, Amos has been
drawn in different directions, at times physical, at times spiritual, but
always he returns to the guitar his hands have been playing since he
was the young boy on the cover of his debut album "My name is
Amos".
Neither Amos nor his guitar is featured on the cover of his new album.
But, don't be too quick to judge the kitten. The cover, and Amos'
performances simply seek to bring out the real joy in people. When
Amos plays he incessantly aspires to bring members of the audience
to a place where it's really ok, and actually safe, to smile, laugh, and
maybe even dance a little! So, take a moment. Listen to the music and
be rocked by the playfulness. Amos walks that thin line between the
light-hearted and the heart-felt both musically and lyrically throughout
this album and it works, quite simply, because he refuses to take
himself too seriously. That's why he will draw you in;
smiling is contagious.

Joannides I want to see you smile, représente le désir continue du
public.

Amos Joannides releases new music video "Miss Lady" featuring
Stephanie Swift, an incredibly talented young actress who really
does make you smile. The video makes you feel the pain a bit,
but you really get the sense of what Amos is trying to say.
"I love you, I miss you, I'm so happy for you... ouch... I let you go".

Stay tuned for his album launch "I want to see you smile" on August
24th at the Privateer, downtown Montreal. More to come very soon...
